Best I could do. It was chilly and bright day. The wind was indeed a factor with gust up to 35 mph. Didn't finish in the "meat" but will enjoy my pound of burger given to those who didn't place.

Not quite a "spider", but a good shot. Nine more like it and you probably would have been among the winner's circle.
I haven't been there since 2019 and I do miss it.
My setup appears similar to yours. Homemade folding table and range box. However, since I don't shoot in competition anymore I am currently converting a toolbox to carry both muzzleloading and modern firearm cleaning and shooting paraphernalia.

Nine more like that would have won the shootin match but I wasn't even close, lol. The wind blew steadily right to left then left to right and sometimes head on. Because of this the winner only managed around a 6" string.

Looks like a fun event! A little cool with that breeze I'm sure.🥶

What's the normal winning string average without the wind?
60 ish yards?

Thanks for posting, great looking kit.. .👍👍

It was quite "fresh" with it being mostly in the 40s and factoring in the very brisk and steady wind....well, it was uncomfortable.

The shoot consists of 10 one shot matches at 60 yards. If I remember correctly the record is somewhere around a 2.5" string. To put this in perspective, each shot averaged a quarter inch off the center X. Five or under would be great.

The table and shooting box are from a guy that goes by "spiderman" on the ALR forum. His craftsmanship is excellent. The rifle was built for this style of shooting by myself. It has a .45 caliber heavy Rice barrel and stocked in walnut to imitate an East Tennessee mountain rifle. It weighs in at around 14 1/2 pounds.

I'm not good with computers, so I can only hope that the two pictures I intend to post do appear as I want.
The first is me at the 2019 York Shoot. That is the last one I attended. My chunkgun (pictured) is a left-hand percussion, .50 caliber, with a 46" heavy barrel. The rifle weighs 16 pounds. Competitors are supposed to dress in 1920's - 1930's style. Most simply wear bib overalls, but some go all the way.
The second photo is the shooting line at the 2017 York Shoot.
All shooting is done prone, resting the rifle over a "chunk" which are mostly homemade now days, but could be simply a short length of log.
In years past there were over 200 competitors, but in recent years the numbers have dropped some. I don't know about this year's number.

Good looking outfit you got there. We were present in 2019. This year's attendance was down considerably with just north of 100 registered. The upcoming shoot will be the 30th anniversary so maybe we can greatly improve those numbers.
