what is the most devistating bullet in your opinion on deer out to 200 yards out of the 223 and the 243? i know shot placement is most important  just looking for everyones varied opinions on this subject.

This was from a .223 winchester ballistic silver tip.. Somewhere I posted this damage was done with a soft point but.. after looking at the box of shells tonight i'm pretty sure it was the ballistic tip.. I really dont see a soft point doing this much damage.. I wont do that again.. this was a 25 yard shot..

This is why I hate Nosler Ballistic tips. I processed deer for over 30 years. I threw away more meat from deer shot with them than any other bullet by far.

Well, my experience is a little different. BT's on pigs at about 150, 200 yards perform pretty good-06, 3000FPS, 59.5 grains IMR4350 (which is over max be very careful), 150 grain BT, Federal 210M. High velocity and up close you get those massive destructive shots. I very nearly skinned a coyote with a 180 grain BT from a 300 winmag. Shot a piglet on Catalina Island with a 06 150 BT at maybe 25 yards, no piggy, just parts.

The partition is a much better choice at any range. I have never shot/loaded the Barnes.
