All weapon seasons?

I kind of like the idea,would probably greatly affect bow and Mzl sales,but that's not TWRA s problem.If we went from Oct1 to mid Jan as BSK suggested in another thread,wouldnt most people just rifle hunt? I would.
I think that would turn the big/mature/trophy,whatever bucks,and most other deer nocturnal or scarce pretty quick?

I absolutely dislike the idea of a single, all weapons deer season. I might even dislike it more than Bammer football.

X2 but I would favor the all weapons season if we reduce buck limits. Bust em both and be done with it. Wouldn't have to spend money for a Sportsman license.

How about a conditional all weapons season? :poke:

You can hunt with any weapon all season if:

-You hold a lifetime license
-You are limited to 1 buck per season, but must swear allegiance to support a 3 buck limit :poke:
-You are limited to mature bucks only
-Private land only for hunting with a weapon out of season
-72 annual Hours of volunteer data collection service for TWRA, 48 of which may be on the Mzl and Rifle opening weekends. :)

Actually I do agree with you on the Private Land only hunts.(not out of season of course) Not that it would change the way I would hunt. But be respectful of the landowner that wants to hunt the way he wants to hunt.

Season is already about 10 days to long where I hunt. I've found way to many fresh sheds in mid January over the years.

Our rut is already over by mid December so really no need to keep banging away after Christmas.

Actually, I would be all about doing away with bow season if we end up going to a 2 buck limit. It is the least effective biological tool for reducing the herd, and actually educates more deer helping them to survive. The older I get, and the less time that I have, the less I like bow hunting... especially those who bow hunt and think that everyone else should be relegated to that as well

TL, you just hit the nail on the head why it will never happen. If they went to a all weapons season they would have to charge everybody the sportsman license price or real close to it. They know that would push a lot out. TWRA is not willing to give up on the revenue of $28 or whatever it is now for each individual season.

Kill em quicker and be done less people in the woods less stress on the deer. Then they can grow enormous antlers the next season

If we want less people in the woods to lessen stress on the deer then lets implement a Kansas-style gun season. 12 days in early Dec and that's it. :poke:

They do that at Ft Campbell....luckily they have some areas that are 'only " archery. I guess in the end if it went this route, that if you hunted private ground...it would be up to you what way you would hunt.

If thats the case then i would want it to be bow only through the season except for the juvy hunts. Let them use rifles.

I prefer the most optimum weapon in my hands legal to carry. That would be a rifle. Still, I'd hate to see specific weapon seasons done away with even though I could still hunt with them if I chose...aaaaaaaAND even though I believe archery season (or even muzzleloader season depending on what part of the state you're hunting in) screws the pooch many times for opening of rifle season.
