hunted all day didnt see a thing im getting really discouraged iv e not killed a thing all yr only thing i saw was a rabbit idk whats going on wish i kne somebody that had lot doe on there property or bucks and would let me hunt

My son and I did back to back all dayers on draw hunt this weekend at Chuck Swan. Besides typical morning/evening deer we saw deer at 11, 1, 145,2, and the only buck we saw was at 3. Only the 2 does at 2 oclock were evading humans. Rest were being normal.

Move your stand or something or go hunt a different place. I'm sure there is public land near you where you'll at least see deer.

Forgot to add this was the first buck I have saw this year it has been tuff this time I saw bucks most of my hunts and killed three good ones but this year is way different

How long have you been hunting? You've posted several threads now about the same thing.

In 2008 I was in your shoes. I ended up killing "0" deer that season. What I did when the season was over is get a bow, muzzleloader, climbing stand and started scouting public land in the off season. I spent a lot of time spring and summer 2009 shooting my new bow, learning how to use a climbing stand and working up loads for my muzzleloader. Plus I asked a lot of people about places to hunt and started networking.

This might not be your year, but if you put in the work and gain access to new land, lengthen your season by getting new weapons and start getting up in trees it will pay off.

You might get lucky and someone might get you on a doe hunt but I wouldn't depend on it. You've got to put in the work.

Are you only rifle hunting? What about muzzleloader ?

I saw where you hunt bark camp barrens. I wont draw you a map but check out the ragsdale road area. I kill deer every year in the barrens.

2007 and 2008 were my first years deer hunting asides going with my dad when I was a boy. I hunted from the ground with a 336w Marlin 30 30. I know exactly your pain. Keep at it...still a few weeks left.

I would start putting a little money away when you start working again for a muzzleloader. That will get you an additional two weeks in the woods in 2014. Also muzzleloader season in some areas is the cruising, chasing phase of the rut so it's a great time to be in the woods.

Muzzleloader season is probably my favorite season.

Bow will get you almost two additional months of deer season. Sounds like you really want to be a successful hunter. Great thing about having a bow is you can bow hunt during muzzleloader season but you can't muzzleloader hunt during bow season. Something to think about if you have to choose between a muzzleloader or a bow.

Bow requires more dedication in the off season. You got to practice, practice, practice .

I would trade my rifle for a good muzzleloader.
You get extra time and you really open yourself up to some good wma draw hunts

I got to hunt last eve, and didn't see a thing either. I think the deer are locked down with the does now in my area.
