ever hunt deer with a ak ? the gun shop has got a good deal on a few century arms ak -47 .but i wouldnt want it if i couldnt use it to hunt deer .the are 7.62x39's

I have hunted with an sks. A 7.62x39 bullet should be fine out to 200yds, maybe a little further. The problem is whether or not the rifle is accurate enough to take a 200yd shot. A bolt action cz in 7.62x39 is accurate enough. Ak's are a different matter. You may be limited to about 75 yds or less. In addition to them not being the most accurate rifles, scope mounting is unreliable and sloppy.

As far as the 7.62x39 it's very close to a 30-30 performance wise. The problem with most AKs is that they are not very accurate, so IMO they make a poor hunting gun.

hunted with a guy in Whiteville years ago, his uncle and cousin were also there at the "other" end of the property.

I hear shots and then hear the buzz/whistle and the bullet goes by. They "SAW" something and began blasting away with their SKS

Doe comes running up the hill towards me and tucks off in the woods.

I wlak to where they were and they were shooting towards my truck at her.

that was the last time I have been to that place.

Not that this was a response to your question
just seemd to go well with the topic, I have a AR and a AK but neither of them have I hunted with.
