So I decided to try the air skinning method on a coyote yesterday. I had seen the videos and it looked impressive, but I didn't see how it could be that easy.
I made a small slit above the front left paw, inserted a rubber tipped hose in and started inflating. I could actually see the air spread up the leg, to the tip of the nose, down the body and even the thighs. I did this on each foot and the whole body was totally inflated. My neighbors had just gotten back from hunting and came over to watch and couldn't believe how much the skin inflated and stretched. I thought the next step would be a breeze. Was I wrong!
I hung it up and started skinning and the hide was just as tight to the body as any other coyote. Nothing was different!

My question, what the H did all that air inflate? It was obviously doing something, but the skin remained tight to the body.

Air must have got below that layer "in between" . I'm not sure there is an easy way to skin a coyote...
