I might use one of these vs. a crossbow. How long till it is legal?

It is NOT legal in Tennessee. Check the chart again - it is a little confusing. As a matter of fact, I thought the same thing - I called emailed TWRA and they said "NOT LEGAL". I went back and looked at the map/chart again - and saw my mistake.

No problem....like I said, I did the same thing. Their map is a little confusing at first glance. I got so excited, I nearly had one ordered. Boy, was I disappointed when I found out that they weren't legal. [emoji1]

I gotta tell you I shot one of these at ATA this year and was highly impressed.

I think once these are legalized there will be alot of crossbow fans switching to it.

The ease of cocking is a HUGE plus and the thing will drive tacks out to 80 yards. NO DOUBT in my mind about that.

Youth and Ladies will love it because of the ease of pull, accuracy and the cool factory.

And YES i know its not a "bow"

Well it looks like the list has expanded greatly on the states that have allowed the Air Bow to be legalized for Big Game hunting since this thread first originated.

Tn looks to be pretty well surrounded . If memory serves TN was a good hold out on Cross Bow legalization too. So give it time .

I heard some hard stances against crossbows years ago.. People at high levels atTWRA were against it.

These states around us are passing it quickly . It's just a matter of time.

Oh don't get me wrong I hope they pass it just for the folks that want it.
I don't have anything against them, other than the price will probably keep me from ever having one.

I guess it really depends on who on the commision wants it.

Oh don't get me wrong I hope they pass it just for the folks that want it.
I don't have anything against them, other than the price will probably keep me from ever having one.

I guess it really depends on who on the commision wants it.

I think Cabelas has them down to about 699 . I think there are ways around the refill the way I am hearing it so it won't cost u $200 more. Cheaper than some rifles and scopes and cheaper than some crossbows .

I'll have to admit I will probably get one to supplement my toys I still will bow hunt though . I love my bows .

It looks like a great way to help keep the deer herd in check. My days of flinging arrows are over and I don't have much desire to pursue a crossbow. I can't see why anybody would be opposed to it except for maybe archery manufacturers AN custom shops.

Thank goodness for my smokeless muzzleloader and not having to shoot an old flintlock Roundball muzzleloader anymore.

I think you bring up a great point .
For those that only want to hunt with One weapon year round or only buy one tag this could fit the need nicely.

I think they vote on this stuff in the spring .it took years to change the minds on the crossbow . TWRA was dead set against them and set on keeping them in the hands of handicapped hunters . It was not till States across the country started rapidly started accepting them . Who knows with the airbow. State of TN is pretty well surrounded . Minds seem closed on it .

I sent an email and packet of information about the air bow to the chairman of the TWRC last year. It was a very cordial email, asking for his consideration in legalizing the air bow. I never heard a peep from him. Not "Thank you" or "no thank you" or an acknowledgement - nothing.

It's going to take a large group like a hunters advocacy group to take action to get it done .

I've got no problem with the air bow, or it being used to hunt. But for around $1000 I think I'd rather buy another gun or newer compound. I'd like to test fire one of these. The concept is cool. I know one big argument against crossbows being legalized for all hunters was the crossbow is arguably easier overall than a compound or recurve, I'd imagine the air bow will face similar scrutiny. Anyone know the effective range on these?

It's about the same as a modern crossbow except it's shooting a full size arrow instead of a short bolt .

Much lighter than a cross bow and much more ergonomic. Handles just like a med weight spotter bolt action .

Cocking is much quieter and much easier than a crossbow .For women that can't pull a crossbow or older men with crippled hands from fibromyalgia or lupus it can be a game changer .

At some point and time it will just be deer season,a limit and shoot what you want with a short list of limitations,with all the new bows shooting faster ranges have increased some & for the life of me why is the doe limit 4 here with bow but 1 with rifle? who got paid what to skew the limit :stir: :tu:
