I have only seen one buck so far this year. However, I have seen a BUNCH of deer. Just hope the boys show up with lovin' on their mind with these does.

We had a severe EHD outbreak here a couple years ago. Nature is just now getting some deer back.
 
I haven't seen a buck yet either. Actually I haven't seen a rub or a scrape yet either. The best is yet to come so I'll be patient.

I don't completely agree with this, how do you know he hasn't seen the same 5 does twice?

In my area they are just now transitioning. We just don't have alot of bucks on our property march-October then they showill up

I'm just not gonna shoot a bunch of does on this property till I think the population has come up some. If later in the season I'm seeing a bunch I will decide then whether to take one or two.
 
This is the first year since the '07 EHD outbreak that I'm finally seeing a bunch of does on my property.

Buck activity has been unusually muted this year. But the false rut showed up right on time Oct. 11-16. Bucks hit scrapes pretty hard and a handful of new older bucks showed up during that timeframe. Hopefully, that means we'll have a "normally" timed visible rut this year.
 
I've seen 3 deer form the stand and 3 while walking out. 5 does an one spike. Killed one of the does though. Last season I was covered up, but this year has been tough. I am still having fun though.

Saw a bobcat tonight, that was cool.

I wouldn't be too quick to make any management decisions based on a few observations. First, hunter-collected observations taken during daylight often heavily favor unpressured does over heavily pressured antlered bucks. Bucks quickly learn to move less during daylight, reducing their sighting rate. Second, what is seen on a few hunts in October may not represent the total picture of the deer dynamics in the area. An area nearly devoid of bucks in late September and early October may be become flooded with bucks come the rut. I've seen such situations many times.

I highly recommend FULL-SEASON camera censuses be run on a property before major harvest management decisions are made. Even extensive late summer camera censuses may not give accurate mid-season population information.
