my 25-06 factory barrel is 25 years long gone,,the 2nd barrel is 15 years long gone and the 3rd barrel is toast,,I have found a Bartlien SS 9 twist 7mm blank that matches the contour so I wont have to further alter my stock and have been debating a 7mm-06 ,straight 280 and the 280 AI,,probably be my next project this spring,,

Daddy bought the rifle circa 1975 and is an A prefix action that is like glass,,been cycled a bunch,,probably shot well over 10,000 rounds on 3 barrels,,

I fell in love with 280 as a hunting round several years ago. I was curious last night about a 280 mtn rifle so I started looking on different sites to see how many I could find. I only found 1 on guns international and it was sold. I guess they either didn't produce a lot of them or people just don't turn them loose. Either way I and glad to have scored this one. I have a friend who has a custom 280 ai and he really likes it but he is a 7mm nut.

My very first rifle of my own was a 280 Rem Mtn rifle my folks bought for me for Christmas when I was 16... still have it and it's killed a pile of deer and a couple red stags.

I had to pillar bed it after the stock got gouged out after years of use and refinished the stock. It's back to a 3/4 MOA rifle now. I'll never sell it, and will probably pass it onto grandkids (when I eventually have some :) )

Great story on your Mtn rifle. I shot this one today and it was probably 1 1/2 inch group I think I can squeeze a little more out of it. It's going to be a fine little rifle to carry. I am going to looks for a recoil pad tomorrow to replace the hard rubber pad that is on it.

Our 280 is a T/C Venture and it is a fairly accurate rifle. IMR4350, Nosler book max load, Fed 210M primer, R-P nickel brass.

5-shot group
