Age this Hickman county buck

A friend killed this last week in Hickman co, I am thinking 4.5, he said it was a small body deer and was surprised when I said 4.5. What do y'all think?

He looks to be old. I wish the side view was angled from the top instead of the bottom, can't see the ridges from that angle.

I posted the jawbone of a doe similar to this a couple years ago. Seems like I was told at least 4, but the dished out molar with relatively less wear on the next two molars is an atypical wear pattern so the textbook is pretty much out the window.

Wear is not typical, but I'd feel comfortable with 5.5

Definitely 4.5 and could make a case for 5.5.
