All these pics were takin over the same salt lick of the same buck the past 3 summers.. The first yr we got him we aged him at 4+ now I'm beginning to wonder.. So is he now 5,6, or 7? The yrs are in order top left=2011, top right= 2012, botom= 2013

By the first pic, he does look 4 if not 5, and doesn't look too haggard in the last pic, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he actually is 6+ years old. Antler wise he doesn't seem to be on his way down yet either.

No no one has ever seen this deer, during hunting season. We have only ever gotten him on camera in a field once. And never any daylight pics of him during the season... But well see how this season plays out. The area of the property he hangs out around is much more exposed this yr, now that about 300 acres of pine thicket has been clear cut. Hell likely be a tough deer to kill outside of the chasin phase of the rut...but we will see.. I was honestly surprised that he showed up again this yr. I didn't think he would survive another winter...

BHC,

I agree with your assessment. It is the same buck and he was at least 4 1/2 in 2011.

Keyword words being "at least"! Very possible he was 5.5 in the first picture in 2011.

leave the area alone till rut. bring an accurate gun, don't shoot anything else. you may have a shot at on incredible buck
