Age limit

From my understanding a child from the age of 6 - 16 must me accompanied by an adult that is in reach and able to take control of the firearm. What age must the adult be? And can the adult also be hunting at the same time? ( goose hunting)

To be clear my son is 16. So I am not necessarily asking about a 6yr old

Sorry, but I am just back home this evening from a double hernia surgery this afternoon. I felt enough like a gutted deer to take one of the pain meds they prescribed for me. Thus, I probably don't need to be answering any questions on here.
