Age guesses

I know its difficult this time of year but what ya think on these? These are actually good bucks for the area, lots of deer, very little quality forage, browse lines evident in areas.
Also lots of hunters and most of them are brown downers. Thanks for your input.

Just a mineral block from Tractor Supply. The rock you see is a just a natural sandstone rock thats been dug around.

2 and 3 look the oldest, but I'd put them all in the mature range of 4.5 or older.

Honestly, I think any guesses at this point are just based on antlers... and that is worthless...

The bucks pictured are somewhere between 2.5 and 6.5... that's my best guess

megla, that is bogus. If you cant tell some difference in their bodies at this stage, you dont know what to look for. There are some very key things a man can look at this time of year

I'm going to pretty much agree with megalomaniac.

Only thing that can be said with certainty is they're all 2 1/2 or older.

For my own inventory purposes, and if I didn't already have them inventoried from the past year, these might all go in the 3 1/2 or older slot.

After taking another look, I do agree that 2nd pic from the initial post is likely a 4 1/2.

Buck #1 looks younger in pic 2 than I thought. I'd say he's an exceptional 2.5 year old or more likely a 3.5 year old. He could still be a skinny 4.5 though.

Tell me exactly how you know these bucks are all 4.5, but you can't give away 3.5???

What are the 'very key things' you are looking at in these summertime photos that allows you to be certain they are niether 2.5, nor 5.5 or older?

LOL, mabye 2 if he was in a deer farm (based on body alone, nothing to do with horns)... no way this buck is 2. I agree summer is a very had time to attempt to age a buck, but assuming most 3 year olds, 4 year olds, etc. exhibit the same body characteristics with in a given area you can make a pretty good guess if they are 3 or 4. Not saying it's 100% but I bet I would be right a lot more than I'm wrong. But I'm no expert...

Had pics of a 10 point that looked alot like this last year. I thought he was 2 but my buddy thought he was 3. We agreed not to shoot him but he got shot. When aged, he came out to be a very nice 10 point 2 year old. Man I wish he was still alive this year!!! Hard for me to tell difference between 2-3 and 3-4 righ now but do not think the 10 is over 3, just my opinion. I leave the .5's out this time of year as they are probably not the extra .5 years old right now, LOL!
