I haven't been there in over ten years to hunt. My son and granddaughter have the Nov. 14-16 hunt. I know that map shows number of zones and I feel like we need to look it over before the hunt. Are you allowed to scout the base anytime there is not open/quota hunts?
She is hooked now after the juvenile hunt. She wasn't able to shoot at one that was in behind her but she asked me every other day when she gets to go again…She looks at deer hunting videos on her phone all the time getting ready for the time she can shoot her first. Thanks for any help or tips.

As long as there is not a quota hunt going on you can scout. Remember its open for non quota archery so there may be people hunting, also dont bring your side arm! Zones 1 and 2 are normally closed but right now zone 2 is open as of the other day, That could change any day though.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if or how you can find out if zones are open? Are zones closed last minute? I would hate to scout and like a zone and it be closed in morning of checking in prior to hunting. Do you know if food plots are normally planted that show on map? Sorry for so many questions. It is a 2 hr drive for us and just trying to find out as much as possible. Thanks again.

You can call the WMA manager to find out. Normally zones 1 and 2 are closed due to military training, The sign at the main checking station out there said zone 2 was open untill training resumes... Im guessing it will close whenever the gov shutdown ends. I didnt go look at any of the plots and its been 20 years since I last hunted out there but me and a bunch of friends got drawn the Nov 14-16 hunt so ill be poking around out there some over the next week.

Thank you for the information. Good luck to you and your party.

I have hunted AEDC a lot. Used to live in Tullahoma and retired from the National Guard Unit, 1175th TC, there. No matter which unit you end up in there set up and stay on the down wind side of thickets. Usually you will see something.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your advice. Hopefully my 11 yr old granddaughter gets a shot at her first. Last time I was there I wound up over off Woods reservoir during opening day of duck season. I missed the biggest buck I had ever seen over there during a long artillery assault on ducks. I am lefty shooter and he came up from my left with gun barrel to my right and gave me a big ole look , trotted off back the way he came nose to the ground. Lol
