I'm from Jefferson County in East Tn and have two sons, ages 16 and 14. They have taken around 25 deer between them since they started hunting, so opportunity at a shot is not a problem. We own about 40 acres that we hunt on and we all have fun, but there are just very few opportunities for decent sized bucks because all the adjacent land is hunted and most bucks get killed every year. My sons would like for us to go somewhere in West Tn on a Thursday-Sunday hunt this year during Muzzleloader or gun season and try to get a shot at a nice buck. Nice to us would be 6 point or better (preferably an 8). I thought about going to LBL or Ft Campbell, but I don't know anything about the area. Can some of you suggest a public hunting area, or even a leased area that we could get on, for us to try? I need to know if we can use a camper, tents, stay at a hotel, etc. , and what to expect. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
