I just recently purchased some property and it has around 3 acres of field that has been cut for hay. I was needing advice or suggestions on what to plant and when. I would love to have something that would benefit deer and turkey this spring. Then I wonder about something in the fall . Just trying to get suggestions and think ahead. Oh yeah I would also like to have a dove shoot. Just do not know if I can accomplish all this. Thanks for any help!

Which kind of clover would you go with and when do you plant? I would like to do clover in a good size area by the woodline.

I know clover will not help with dove. My plan was to section off the field in one acre plots. Clover at bottom , wheat in the center and possibly corn at the top . Is this realistic or am I thinking too big? I have access to a tractor and equipment through my father in law. I am open to other suggestions also , I appreciate your input.

Just 3 or 4 dove hunters, my son loves to hunt dove. I bow and gun hunt. My 9 year old will deer hunt some but just gun.

In a similar situation...for me, I have about six acres tillable. I plan on one acre of soybeans (low deer density area and only want this to keep pressure off my corn until it gets established), two acres of corn, two of sunflowers, one acre of millet.

Sunflowers and millet for doves...corn and soybeans for deer. After bush hogging sunflowers and millet for dove hunting a few hunts will disc in and top sow those areas with winter wheat for the deer and what few turkeys on my place in the late spring. I also have some smaller little spots I can eventually plant with some clover or turnip greens in the fall.

My big plot is the three acre spot for sunflowers and millet...my primary dove spot to shoot a small group, four to five hunters.
