Acorns falling like crazy

I never remember acorns falling this early in West TN, but I've got trees in my yard hitting me in the head while I'm winterizing my fishing boat. I hope they aren't all gone before archery starts.

I think that could be part of it. We haven't had rain in a couple weeks but I do have a sprinkler system that waters 3 times a week. I think we will get an early winter this year in spite of the high temps predicted next week. I think for sure they will be hitting the ground for the bow opener.

My thoughts exactly. Some tree leaves are turning that darker green that is common with the onset of turning colors then dropping later in the fall.

Did you crack the acorns open? Any good? Rotten?
 
Oaks will def start to drop them if they get stressed and its starting to get pretty dry here as well. Maybe the leaves will actually be off the trees before Thanksgiving this year??

The ones in my yard are water oaks and they look good.
 
I haven't seen an acorn on any of the areas I hunt in Fayette and Shelby county this season. Just leaves...
 
I don't have any white oaks producing in my yard but several reds scattered around. The squirrels are hitting them pretty hard but they're also eating green pine cones pretty good as well.
