I hunt in northern Humphreys county, and I'm not seeing any acorns....

I hear stories of " acorns falling like rain " in other areas.

So I thought it would be interesting to get updates in various areas of the State.

Yesterday afternoon I saw several deer in cut corn fields and green pastures.

If there were acorns around I would think they would be eating them first.

I have some acorns the locals call "Mountain Oak" , I have always known them as "Chestnut Oak".

Is there a difference? The trees have deep grooved bark and hugh acorns.

Here's a pic of some deer taken a few day ago, must be some acorns somewhere.

I live and hunt on my farm in upper east tn. I have a lease in west tn to hunt . I have hunted both this year . the Acorn crop IMO is heaver in west TN all the oaks flavors .
Mountain oak sounds like a chestnut oak to me.
 
East Tn, Chestnut oaks pretty well loaded everywhere, Red oaks good average crop, White oaks spotty at best but some trees do have decent crop.

Dover area, White oaks pretty good overall, reds decent as well, few Chestnut oaks.
 
My place in northern Sumner Co is full of them. Have big food plots they aren't even touching because of all the acorns on the ground.

I was in Hohenwald /Linden area yesterday and acorns everywhere. Mostly all white oaks. Best I've seen in 11 yrs.

I hunt from one end of the state to the other throughout the season and so far I've seen a lot of acorns in all of the areas. It seems like a heavy year to me also.
