I have owned my accura for a couple of years now. It has always shot ok but I have never found a load that it really liked. I thought I would try my 250 gr XTP and the black mmp sabot. I used 100 gr of BH 209. And I now have a tack driver. I couldn't be happier. Now if I can only get my savage to shoot this good.
 
I am not a big fan of the lighter sabots they don't have enough energy after they hit unless you shot 150 grains of powder I went and bought the horn day SST in the 300 grains and not had a problem at all still shot good groups

Tell that to this 450" utah elk killed at 170 yards with a 250gr Thor conical.

I was thinking about getting an accura. I think they recommend power belt bullets for that model?

the Accura will shoot many available projectiles. Choosing the correct sabot is the important thing, you have to experiment with sabot brands for such and such bullets.
 
Ain't nothing wrong with power belts. Have taken many deer with the 245 hollow points. They are recommended by CVA to shoot in their guns. They perform well and do not leave no where near the plastic in the rifling as sabots do. They also load easier shot after shot keeping them centered in the bore better. I would suggest you get a power belt bullet starter as it will come with the correct end for the type of bullet you choose. A lot of ram rod ends will pull out or distort the ballistic end of some bullets affecting your groups. But trying different types of bullets never really hurts.
 
Power belt platinums. I would not use the plain power belts for anything. Platinums have performed great for me at any range. I shoot a 45 cal 223 gr platinum and have killed deer from a few feet out to 200 yards. Accurate also, shot 1 hole 100 yard groups with both of my cva 45 muzzleloaders. They both group inside a clay pigeon at 200 yards.
 
I have to clean my breach and bolt but I have shot both of my cva's over 50 times without cleaning the barrel in anyway and they shoot more accurate dirty than they do clean.
