Get the aluminum and thank me later when walking a mile to a great spot with the lighter load!!
Alum is the only way to go in climbers.....save the money on ladder stands and go for the cheaper steel, they are mostly stationary anyway but you will wish you had the steel later when you could have saved 5#'s in weight!!!
Well I was looking through cabelas website to make sure I had made the right choice before I bought the treestand and I actually found a nicer treestand for the same price.
I found a Summit Megabucks Bushmaster XLS on Cabelas, they are selling them for $150 right now. They are all aluminum, perfect for my bow hunting and they only weight 16 pounds. I bought it and it got here yesterday.
I totally agree with Camoman. I've used a Viper for years (until someone decided to make it their own). 5 or 6 pounds makes a world of difference. Especially in the hills of East Tennessee.
For those interested, there are several of these steel Summit stands on Ebay for affordable "buy it now" prices. Just a bit heavy for me. Hope you enjoy it!!
I have both, the aluminum stand is only $100 more("buy it now" on ebay) and is well worth the extra money, its lighter, hangs better, and comes with the stirrups, which make things a whole lot easier while climbing.
ALTHOUGH THE ALUMINUM IS A WHOPPING 5 pounds LIGHTER I HAVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO SAVE THE 100 DOLLARS OR BETTER AND DEAL WITH THE EXTRA WEIGHT. just my opinion any summit is a great stand
