I finally got a archery TN bear. This is a tough season as the bears spread out on acorns and of course oaks are everywhere here. During the Spring/Summer bears are everywhere, you see them frequently, but they just seem to disappear when the acorns come in. Most hunters are hunting over bait locally, but I always wanted to do this legally. This morning I climbed up on a knob with a lot of white oaks, climbed a tree, and settled in the saddle. Right about 0800 I heard running through the woods and saw this bear running right towards me. He hit a shooting lane at about 15 yards, I tried to stop him with a "meh" but he kept going. He hit another opening at about 12 yards, I gave a loud whistle, and he stopped. I put a 560 grain arrow with a Magnus stinger right in the heart. He ran about 40 yards over the hill, fell, did the death moan thing, and it was done. It feels good considering all the damage these things have done to my properties over the years and the reduction of the deer population that has happened since these got so populated. Hopefully it'll eat good too.

That is awesome man, congrats! I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to chase bears.

Cool!

How did you pick that spot? Tons of fresh sign or trail cam pics? Seems like it would be LOT of luck, although I don't really know if bears are creatures of habit and patternable

Just a spot that I deer hunt a lot. Natural funnel between two knobs and lots of white oaks in the area. There are really white oaks everywhere though, just a luck thing.

I'm going to need some tips and recipes!
First thing is grill the back straps with hickory smoke, there amazing!! Shoulder makes excellent pot roast. Hams make best bbq on the planet!! Grind some into burger and make hamburgers. Thank me later!! Also make sure you get all the fat off you can. You can render into grease. My wife makes everything from Biscuits and gravy to cakes with it.

I know where there's 2 you can come get one of them took the rubber off my climber and tore it apart then he bit my rail on my climber any thoughts why he did that? Definitely a bear did it got him on camera. He also finds every camera I put up and messed my angle up

So happy for you! That's quite an accomplishment. I really have gotten interested in an archery bear lately. I would definitely like to try the meat. Basically they have a diet consistent with a turkey so it would ease my mind about eating.
