as i was saying in my other post.."is there anything deer like better than corn ans soybeans"...i had a place i was going to put in a food plot..land owner said plant what you want..but..i see him today and he says..i got some seed i want to sow in that spot so it wont errode(sp) away..some clover and perrinial grass..i said i'll met you there after work..well..he got ladino clover..but he got fescue too..i couldnt talk him out of the fescue..his mind was made up..so..i can still do anything i want..but what would you do..knowing i will have fescue..and clover till its choked out..what would be my best mix..the fescue has me depressed..

be thankful you have a place, and keep the fescue and clover mowed regularly, but before that, buy a lot more clover and overseed it! LOL! good luck though. on one of my leases the landowner just bush hogged the thickest cover on the property, about 5 or 6 acres of sanctuary. am i disappointed, yes. but, it will be ok.

Yes... be thankful you have a place. Yes... the fescue is the worst thing to plant for deer but he does not understand and it is good for erosion, and it is his land so he can do as he pleases. I have killed a lot of deer in fields with fescue in them as they were crossing from one place to another. Through you some red clover in it as well. It stands up real good in fescue.
