After reading the INCREDIBLE amount of misinformation, misguided information, selfish information, misleading information, TERRIBLY inaccurate and full of crap information, and downright LIES about buck limits, QDM, and what the State of Tennessee ought to do with limits and how to grow trophy bucks, I would like to take this opportunity to say, "You DO not get paid enough".

And neither do ANY of your co-workers, officers, or probably anyone else in your line of work.

What an UPHILL battle.

And thank you for what you do.

I know you did not do it all, but I started hunting in 1981. There were virtually NO DEER around here at the time. ANd ZERO turkeys.

Now, I can walk out my door and see them.

Keep up the good work.

Whatever you all at TWRA are doing, it looks pretty good in the woods.

Deer and turkey for EVERYONE. Even a few BOONERS here and there.

Unfortunately, we have an entire generation of deer hunters "educated" (and I use that term facetiously) by TV hunting shows and the crap they spout.

I too think they do good jobs as well, but I feel alot of the bs they put up with on this site is coming from one tracked minded individuals with tons of book smarts and little if any common sense. Always trying to one up the next man with a quote, or personal data they've collected. Dont forget, there are more than 3 deer biologists in the world. So other things that us dumb peons pass along came from other biologists just like yourselves!

I couldn't disgree more. The VAST majority of the drivel I see being passed on by most hunters came from something their grandfather told them (not a biologist), what they read in a "big buck" magazine (not written by a biologist), or what they heard on a big buck TV hunting show (also not from a biologist).


Although it is improving rapidly, the biological knowledge of the average deer hunter is deplorable.

glad youall are catching up, :) been saying the same thing for a long time,lots of unamed workers for twra that dont get the recognition that they deserve also.The persons steering the direction its going has been around for some time,understanding & passing the real story has been helping all of Tn hunters IMO
 
Thanks For all you do. It is unfortunate that once we were a state that hardly had any deer, and now we have so many, that some feel that it aint hunting if you aren't killing a giant buck.

I do blame hunting shows and maganzines for the delima, but it is sad no matter what the cause.
 
Hey, we really appreciate the kind words and I'm not trying to be corny or anything but it is not TWRA that has made Tennessee a great place to deer hunt, it's you guys that deserve all the credit. All we do is fight to keep the regulations as liberal as possible so you can manage your deer herds as you see fit. If the liberal regulations were affecting the health of the herd we would cut back on them, but we are not seeing that at all, so I guess our motto is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I have always contended that an individual should decide what kind deer he wants to shoot, not the government. So we wanted to leave as many of the management decisions in the hands of the landowners/hunters as possible.

I should also add, in 2006, when we rewrote our strategic plan, we identified "educating the Tennessee Deer hunter" as our number one priority in the deer program. I will argue that is still our number one priority because an uneducated hunting community is ripe for mis-management. Anyhow, we have come so far in the last 15 years, I want to make sure we stay on the right course. Bottom line... keep it up guys!
 
I grew up in loudon Co. As a teen-ager we had 0 deer 0 turkeys. Now we have a good population of both. THANK YOU TWRA!!!
