I worked 10 straight days, in hopes of getting to go to Aurora Mo for a 1000 yd shoot. I came up short on brass. I had no idea I needed that much brass and loaded ammo.

These guys shoot 2 matches the same day and heavy gun is 10 shots per record target so 40 rounds record plus any shoot off`s you get involved in.

I only have 150 Dasher cases.

I will get back busy turning 150 more to fireform.

The bright side is I`m off today and ain`t got to be back till Tuesday....... :grin:

Thinkin, I`m heading out to the turkey woods about now. ;)
 
That sucks that you couldn't make the shoot,but good luck with the Turkeys.A bad day in the woods is still beter than a good day at work!
 
I thought them boys took thier stuff and reloaded between matches and used a very small number of thier best cases
 
Point blank shooters do.

I am told there is a reloading room in Aurora, and I may have overlooked that option.

I have neve been to an IBS match so I just need to ask many questions.

That's why I've decided to stick with only 600 yd. shoots. It doesn't take as much ammo and preparation with only 20 record rounds to a match plus sighters. Maybe I'm just lazy. I've only got 100 cases worked up and only did the second 50 just in case I decided to shoot the nationals in Oak Ridge. There's a shoot there today but I've decided to pass and go to a shoot in Georgia tomorrow until I get access to their 500 yard range which should be tomorrow. I've only got to do my range safety instruction session and then next week it'll be 500 yard time. That'll help loads by being able to work up my loads for extended distance and not the 200 yards I've been limited to. Hope you kill a gobbler during your time off. Good luck!

Everyone always posts pictures of groups with coins for reference size and people ask what's under the coin. This one is just the opposite. Here's one group from fireforming the BRX where I was just shooting fast and not taking pains for groups. This is a 25 shot group. 24 are under the coin and the other one....well I probably just got in too big a hurry. There's always that one.

Have to agree with you Mr.Big although I haven't see it done as much anymore.

Do know of a guy that onced owned Accuracy International in Oak Ridge that had a Loading set up inside his truck and van. Used to get kick out of a guy that woked with him hollar out to his better half up/down 1/10 th on the next bacth,heck of a set up.

I can remember a bunch of guys back in the 70's rolling them on the line at John Sevier Range Range Box served as the bench and storage area.


Almost forgot Hope the Turkey Hunt went well for Ya Tim .

:cool: and good luck in GA. I was wondering if you was going to the shoot at ORSA today.Made it over to the bench rest range yesterday for some testing and playing around with a couple hunting rifles.
 
A new record was set in Oak Ridge yesterday by John Lewis in the heavy gun class. He's got a really unique setup and shoots the 308 Winchester which you don't see on the benchrest ranges that much anymore. His 5 shot group was 0.386 at 600 yards. I can't imagine that unless I really had some mega luck going. I understand Sam Hall won the shoot with a cumulative grouping of under 2 inches for all targets shot in both Light and Heavy Rifle. Both of these guys are nice people and deserve recognition.
 
Here's a picture I found of John Lewis with his group. Yes, that little speck at 2 o'clock at the junction of the blue and white center was shot at 600 yards while it was raining. Story has it that the barrel was about 30 years old and bought by John for $50. Congratulations to John.

.386 at 600???? Holy cow, I had no idea that was even possible. That would be the equivalent of hitting a hole in one on all par 3's on a course in a single round of golf.

I suspect he'll get to keep his top spot for quite some time to come!
 
This really got my attention over on 6mmbr.com. I bet this little tidbit rejuvenates the .308. One thing is for sure, that guy can shoot!
