I was blessed to have a memorable hunt in the chilly weather this morning. I settled into the stand at 5:45 and immediately could hear sparring about 50 yards behind my stand. At first light, I had three doe walk directly under my stand and the action never stopped.
I shot this 8 pointer at 6:45 as he came busting through the woods grunting at a doe and two fawns. It seemed like odd behavior. Has anyone experienced this before during October? He is not my biggest buck I've taken off my property, but I have never seen this guy on my cameras and the weather was too perfect not to take my first deer this season.
Additionally, the deer didn't stop moving this morning. I literally was surrounded by 10-15 deer between 7-8:45. All of them were aggressively hitting an old trophy rock spot. This seems odd for this time of year, especially since our food sources are good.
