Well the bug has bitten me. Going to build an 870 Home Defense shotgun. Seeing the threads posted on here has helped make up my mind about having one, so I will buy my pieces and build it as I can.

Already have a camo pistol grip stock and forearm set I can put on it from a past turkey gun. Going to get the 870 from my brother. I have an 18.5" barrel bought off gunbroker.com that will be here in a couple of weeks hopefully.

I'm going with the Wilson 2-shot mag extension with sling swivel attached and the jumbo button safety. I will take pics and post on the build with the final pic as it progresses.
 
Got my barrel in today from AI&P Tactical: 18.5" with Rem Choke, matte finish.

Soon as I save up a little change, I'm going to order the 2-shot mag ext. with vertical QD sling swivel from Wilson....
 
Probably going with the bead for now. Eventually I want to add a tri-rail on the mag tube where I hope to add a green laser on one side and a light on the opposite side.

Well I picked up the 870 build gun from my brother this weekend.

Next will be the mag ext. Can't decide on a stock yet as Mrs. Grizzly says I am to leave the pistol grip stock on her turkey gun.... :blush:

It has a shorter youth stock on it right now.... seems to help when doing a fast shoulder of the gun.

I looked at that stock pretty hard.... trying to save where I can for other upgrades down the road.....

All I need to get for now is a sling. I will eventually put a light of some type, hopefully in the next few weeks....
 
In between.... I have the Remington factory turkey choke in it right now..... best part of that barrel is the screw-in chokes... that is why I bought that particular type barrel.
 
I have a skeet choke I could put in it and run slugs through it...... might take it for a back-up on that hog/bear hunt in Dec.
 
Man has to wonder what goes through a fellows mind while he slips around in the dark and suddenly hears a shell being shucked into the chamber of a pump-shotgun.... :sick:
 
That's sweet I just sort of went through the same toy build. Started with a used 870 express and went nuts. Havn't got around to shootin it either. Went retro.

I saw your post..... the inspiration for my build.... I went with the all black for now. Maybe in the future a custom camo finish of Dura-Touch.
