How do you like this round? Thinking of getting one for my boys. They shoot one of my 25-06 now. But been thinking about getting them a gun in this round.

it is the best light recoil/youth/female deer round ever made.
I bought one in the model 7 after season last year for my girls. I like it so well, when I go to the mountain thats what will be in my hands. I hunted with a Browning Micro 7mm-08 last year and harvested two deer with it. I think its a awesome deer round. I don't reload for it yet, but I have been shooting Hornady 139 grain SST ammo out of the Model 7. It shoots well under an inch at 100 yards. Go ahead and get one you won't be sorry.
It's a great round for anyone of any age for any game....how's that for an answer. Light recoil and lots of energy downfield to do the job.
And for some light reading..try this website for the TWIN of this cartridge. The 7mm x 57mm Mauser has a little more history than the 7mm-08 Remington that was developed in 1980.
It will not only kill deer, hogs, moose, some guy named W.D.M. Bell killed over a 1000 elephants with it (7mm x 57mm aka 7mm-08).

The 7mm-08 in a light easy to handle rifle is the ideal whitetail setup in my opinion.
The caliber has been a sleeper, but it does everything well.

They love shooting the 25-06 i got them. And to be honest. It is a tack driving son-of-a-gun. Spliting holes out at a hundred with factory ammo. Center bull. Best shooting out of the box gun i have had.
But ive been wanting to get a 7mm 08 for them. I think it will be a awesome round.

Bought one about 12 years ago and havent traded since. Shot countless deer with it and lost none and all but one down within sight.

The .260 is nice as well, a little flatter out past 250 yards from what I've read. I like both in a short light rifle. The model 7 may be the perfect rifle!
154 grain Hornady Interlocks compliment this caliber nicely.

My model 7 7mm-08 likes Hornady Light Magnum 139 grain SST.

Nice gun. Scope is too big. That gun begs for a 2.5x8.
Personal preference though - I have the same gun in black synthetic.
I have sooo many 140 gr Accubond/BT loaded (140's and Varget is your friend), I doubt I'll shoot anything else for a while, but the 7-08 and 120's go together like beer and pizza.
A 120 NBT, TTSX, or TSX and RL15 will get you 3,000+.
Nothing you won't like with that combo.

I have shot the 120 NBT and the 120 tsx and like both very much. I would be shooting them now in my 7-08 if I didn't have a couple hundred loaded with the 140's and Varget.
A good rainy day like tomorrow, and I just may load some of the ttsx's up in a couple calibers.

You guys might want to try Ramshot "TAC" in your 7mm-08's or 308's for that matter.
I know alot of people who do swear by the "Varget" for them but my uncle has used it in his A bolt 308 and it isn't good at all."Tac" is a different story he really likes it,I see no reason why it wouldn't work in the 7mm-08.

I wouldn't be scared of shooting anything this side of the biggest, most pissed off grizzly with a 7mm08. 120 grains Barnes are the berries like ewc said. I'm toting mine to Colorado for elk in 2 weeks. 6lbs10oz all up with 4 in the magazine
