Just curious what make/model rifle are you using it in, they all shoot differently.

I have several loads with different bullet weights that I like for my Ruger.

Depends on what you are hunting and the results you want.

150gr factory rounds routinely blew deer half apart at close range. LOTS of bloodshot meat.

Went to a hornady innerlock 162gr BTSP over IMR4350 and am getting approx 2900fps. Good balance between penetration and expansion at all ranges. Blood shot is now more of a softball size.

Prior to using a heavier bullet and "loading down" I would get a basket ball sized blood shot and usually ruin both shoulders and a section of backstrap even when I put it through the ribs just behind the shoulder.

After I got over the "WOW"! I blew up a deer factor, decided to find something with better overall performance.

The 162gr is a great all around hunting round. Penetration for elk and hogs, good expansion on deer without blowing them half apart.

Encore prohunter. I like the 120gr NBT ideal. I also like IMR 4831. Thats what my 25-06 shoots best with a 100gr NBT.

Remington 700. I've also killed a couple with the 120. One buck and one doe both between 100 and 120 yards. Both broadside lung shots and both ran maybe 50 yards and dropped within sight with full passthrough and good bloodtrails had I not seen them drop. Up to 300 yards or so it's a point and shoot with the flat trajectory. I'm loading 71.0 grs. RL22 for the Remington. Groups are just over an inch at 200 out of a factory barrel.
