I agree with DaveB comments - The AMAX bullet is a Target/Match bullet - However, I have used AMAX bullets for deer hunting for 10 years and truly I have found nothing better for my needs. (CAVEAT - Your results may vary). I have found that the AMAX are some of the most consistent shooting bullets in my rifles, all of my loads are worked up for these projectiles in my .308WIN (168gr & 178gr AMAX), .260REM (140gr AMAX), .243WIN (105gr AMAX) & .223 (75gr AMAX) and if the made a .270 bullet in AMAX if would be running them also. I do not run them top speed and do not take marginal shots, that seems to keep them from blowing up on impact. I have never lost an animal nor have never had to track one more than 30-50 yards and have taken deer from 30 yards all the way out to 450 yards (.260 REM - 140gr AMAX @ 2850FPS - 120lb doe took 6 steps and fell over dead). Having said all of that if you reload, run them at moderate velocities within your accuracy node and take good shots and they will do the job, again these are the results I get from MY weapons....
