7 grass carp tonight from 2 adjacent ponds (not counting two lost fish). 3 from the first pond before dark, 4 from the next pond after dark.

I know a lot of you don't care much for carp of any kind but let me tell you it was a blast. Smallest was 13 and biggest was 17. Last fish of the night fought for over 30 minutes (they were all caught on 6lb mono).

Going on a date with an ugly woman is alright as long as nobody sees you. Probably why he is fishing by himself.

and on the fly too.... one day I might be seen at some carp pond with a fly rod too.

Bluegills and other small fish can be fun to catch too... they are all fish... but lately I've had the bug for big ones

why I fish for smallmouth,nothing much more challengig than summer time smallies,on a big lake,with pressure and boat traffic,is there?

Smallies are my favorite black bass for the fight... I don't fish lakes mainly because I don't have much of a boat and live more than 30 minutes from the nearest lake. I fish ponds and streams with no nasty boat traffic and the occasional big smallmouth will show up. but they don't get big, and I still like going for the monster fish... carp, buffalo, cats, whatever I can find.... Still planning to go to old hickory dam for some big cats.

Oh and there are some supposedly 5+ pound largemouth in the very ponds that I fish for grass carp. I'm gonna snap at some point and start throwing some soft plastics in there. Tonight I caught two bass (or the same one twice), first on a boiled carp bait and then on a piece of white bread... what the heck, were they starving?

I got my bowfishing kit, so I can practice out on the water some (mostly for buffalo), but I am guessing it's not as fun as waiting for one to pick up your bait at its own will, and fight it with a rod and 6 pound line. If I want to shoot something, there are deer, turkeys, squirrels, plenty of other stuff to shoot.

no kidding he's the reason I went and bought a cheap bowfishing kit, so I have the chance to at least try it. I have to see what all the hype is about...
