I don't like the ballistic tip. It works great as for killing a deer, but it jellifies the insides. Makes a complete mess to the point of ruining the heart if you get near it. Disintegrating it if you hit it. I prefer a soft nose lead core. I Remington Corelocks mostly, or Hornady Whitetails.

Hornady ELDX or Barnes are my personal favorites in my 708. Accubonds are my overall favorite but cant afford those anymore after all the price hikes

I like Federal Fusion 140 gr. We tried the Hornady 139 gr American Whitetail in 2021 when Fusions were not available — 3 bucks each at about 120 - 140 yards and didn't get pass through on any of them, bullet was embedded just under skin on exit side. They shot well and all 3 bucks were dead in 30 - 40 yards, but no pass through. Similar results with Winchester XP

If you load or know someone who does, try the Speer Gold Dots. Lots of information out on the interwebs that thinks it's the same bullet.

I guess I am different but Remington Core-Loks have always performed very well for me through my Tikka and Remington rifles. Truthfully, they have shot so well there was no need to try anything else. I killed a coyote Wednesday morning at @250 yards with the Tikka and Corr-Loks. Dead right there. This combo has proven itself also on deer. I have never had one go over 25 yards. I love the light recoil even with the Tikka.
