I know many of you Bragg hard on the 7-08
for deer, I've never shot one or even held the
round.

So tell me why is it a better deer round over
an 308?
 
No deer would know the difference. But the 7mm/08 will use slightly lighter bullets and if everything else is the same the 7mm/08 has less recoil.

How does all things being equal the 08 has less recoil?
 
The 308 and 7-08 are very similar in visual size but depending on how sensitive you are on recoil, the 7-08 offers a slight difference in bullet selection for that purpose.
They all kill and you probably will not notice the difference in recoil in an hunting situation.
 
In a 6 lb. Rifle the 7-08 has a noticeable lighter recoil than the 308. The 7-08 is a tad bit flatter shooting. But i'll give the 308 the edge in accuracy, just because of more match grade bullets to select from. I own and shoot both calibers, they both will hammer just about any medium sized big game.

To me the 7mm bullet has a higher BC(ballistic coefficient) than a .308, therefore more accurate if it's just science that makes a projectile fly straighter than another projectile. It's overall not much difference. On the fun military side it's the best of both worlds. 7mm bullet designed by the Germans, married to a great cartridge designed by our military.

What Snow Wolfe said which is:

The momentum is equal to the mass of the gun multiplied by its velocity. In other words... IF BOTH cartridge and powder are equal , BUT the .308 bullets are heavier, then you will have more recoil. Make sense?

not necessary true yes for actual recoil but felt recoil would depend on weight of rifle

I know I was not referring to your quote I shouldnt of quoted it as well but in reguards to this statment

I have both and love both. In all reality there's not enough difference in ballistics or trajectory to make a difference. As said, if you had identical rifles in both calibers then felt recoil would be less with the 7-08. If you don't reload, then the advantage is definitely with the 308 for cost and selection. If I had to choose just one I'd be the 308.
 
I have both and both are great. The advantage of the 7mm08 is that in similar weight bullets, the 7mm08 holds a significant advantage of sectional density and ballistic co-efficiency.
