Anyone tried the new 6mm eld-x 103gr? I have a savage 243 with a 1:9.25 twist and kinda wondered if I might could stabilize them.

My Savage like 75-95 grain, think you need a 1:8 twist for heavier bullets but it's worth the try.

mine likes 75 and 85 gr hollow points extremely well. I did try some 100gr Speer btsp and it shot them well too. But I haven't found a ton of info on the eld-x either

I thought for sure this would be a 6mm creedmoor conversation... We'll see if that one goes mainstream like the 6.5.

Let us know how it goes. 6mm with high BC are interesting.

It may be spring before I'm able to try them. But I will report back. You may be correct with the 6 creedmore or even a 6x47. I know some are going with a 243 but with slow twist barrels. Unfortunately with a factory barrel they don't tend to cater to those that wanna try the unconventional

My Rem 700 ADL has the standard 243 twist and it stabilizes 105 partitions no problem. I was using the MAX IMR7828 charge over Fed210M primers and I was about .007 off the lands. This was a very very accurate round, killed a bunch of deer and piggies in California. The length of the ELD bullet may be a factor...

Ha!! Well... I did see advertised 3050fps. Not sure if .243 case and safety concerns will allow for enough gas to get to 3kfps?

Hmm. Nosler is showing several very nice FPS loads for the 95-100 -107 grain bullets. RL17, RL19, IMR7828, H4831sc, and H4831 .

I would take the 103 and start off with the low end charge weight for the 95-100's and work my way up, looking for pressure.

The ELD looks to me like an Accubond or maybe a NBT .284 120 gr. This is why the odd-ball grain count...to get the low drag they had to use a lot more copper than lead.

Should stabliize no problem and if not, you will know immediately, can't mistake the keyhole.

I'm getting over 3000 with a 100 Speer btsp. But depending on the bearing surface I may not get there

What flavor of powder?
Have you tried magpro?
