Well I made a trade with @Proudpapa and acquired this nice 642. I think the sights are off. The two target pics are from 9ft. What do you all say?

Just kidding Mitch. Now I know why the Mrs. likes this gun so much. I've ordered a lock plug (TK Custom) so I can remove the Hillary lock, Hogue grips, and spring kit with an extended firing pin (TK Custom). I'm fixing to do a polish job on the trigger also, and make it even better.

Very nice. I did an upgrade on my S&W 637-2 yesterday. It took the pull weight down to 3 (SA) & ~9 (DA). I'll test it soon.

I bought a 642 for my wife. I put the larger Houge grips on it and it holds and shoots some much easier with the larger grios on it.

LOVE me some S&W 642s! I put APEX spring kits in all mine and it lowers the trigger pull considerably. And Dan, I thing my target pice are a bit more centered that yours!

Yes Sir, a 8 - 9 lb DA pull is an improvement. I used TK's Custom J-Frame trigger pull reduction kit in. I also polished the contact points as well. Here was my only issue: the trigger has a rectangular ridge where it engages the cylinder stop. It looks like this terrible drawing (sorry I didn't photograph the part). I did not remove the bottom ridge. You can feel when it goes over the cylinder stop. I wondered why the ridge was there, but didn't want to mess up the trigger. Other than that, the entire trigger pull is so much smoother.

I've got a video saved that shows everything to polish. And what to leave alone. My plan is to follow that very closely. Parts should be here tonight. Hopefully I will get her done by the end of the weekend.

I also splurged on a trigger pull gauge and will post the results when I'm done.

It was operator error and I am blaming it on the factory 13lb. trigger pull. I have done a trigger job. Trigger has been polished and springs have been changed with a TK Customs spring kit. I now have an 8lb. trigger pull. I'm hoping to have time to shoot it today or tomorrow. I will report back after my range trip. Hopefully I will get that a little better centered.

The 642 with a new set of Hogue Monogrips. Minus the Hillary lock, and sporting my custom made pocket holster.

This holster keeps the gun in place and drawing is effortless.

If you decide to try a .380, I highly recommend the S&W Bodyguard 2.0. Except for the sights, this little pistol ROCKS! 12 rounds, smaller/thinner than the Glock 42 and I have both. The G42 stays home now.

I looked at a Bodyguard the other day. The size was nice but the caliber just doesn't do it for me.

I'm going to respectfully differ on this. The .380 is the same diameter bullet with a lower velocity and lower weight BUT the 2.0 gives twice the magazine capacity of the Micro 9. I do really like 1911 based pistols but in this situation I like the other option.

I love the 380, I have several but I'll take a 9 over it if at all possible

And ammo tech these days negates a lot of the problems with 380. It can be quite the effective round when you absolutely need stealth mode light-as-air CCW

the 38 edges out the 380 especially with heavier bullets and +p ammo. you can get twice as many rounds but how many do we need. i only need enough to stop one ahole, possibly two. im not in the army anymore so i dont play hero anymore either. anyways with a bad back the glocks and berettas are staying at the house and im carrying a ruger lcr now. at 13oz i can jog with it in my pocket.
