Tell me about the 6.8 thinking about building one to deer hunt with .How hard is ammo to find how good are they in thickets my max shot would be about 350 yards will this round cover that with plenty of killing power

It is an excellent cartridge. If you are talking the 6.8 SPS remington, price looks to be around 1.00 a round.

The 6.8 SPC is a great deer round out of the AR15 platform. In thickets? I wouldn't plan on good results reliably with any round shooting through and actually hitting brush. You just have to pick your shots. And it wouldn't be my choice for a frequent 350 yd deer round either with about 18-22" of drop and reduced energy. But between these extremes it is a fine performer to say 225-250 yards imo.

As PH said - great deer round. Ammo use to be readily available - I picked up a bunch for 110gr sierra pro hunter rounds from SSA. Then I got into reloading. 350 yards is doable but not my perferred round for that range. I don't have any places that I shoot out past 200 yards. I have taken 2 deer with my Spikes Tactical AR in 6.8SPC one at under 100 yards and one at 165 yards - Zero tracking required on either.
