Birds were gobbling like crazy on roost! Had this one coming in from left to right, i was waiting on him to cross my barrel. I watched him coming for a good 15mins just getting closer and closer, i just could not move my gun due to a bush on the left side of me.
well literally when he was 5 yds from giving me a shot he comes out of strut and takes off. I was sunk, i had no idea what happened. well i then see 2 other long beards come out of nowhere running after him.
so then they all 3 stay out at 100yds for 2 HOURS gobbling at everything and i mean everything. (now the odd part) so then 2 hens come into the field and literally walk within feet by the birds gobbling and the toms dont follow them or anything just stay sitting there gobbling every 4 secs.
I had an idea which way they where headed so i got up and ran way down in front of them and as i popped into a road bed i see the first one 150yds out. I sat down right there and let out a very sharp cut series followed by an excited yelp.
he covered the ground in seconds on a dead run to me. If i didnt have my gun up he would have ran over me.
Hunt went from exciting to almost tears to awesome. Man I love turkey hunting!!!!
Got one tag left in TN hoping to double on Monday with Swamp.
