Is alive and well down here in GA. Our last meet had over 600 junior shooters! I was impressed with how many of them were young ladies, my guess is it was pretty darn close to 50% boys vs girls.
 
that's great.

the women shooters I've been around could out shoot most men. how did the young ladies' scores compare to the young men?
 
for the most part the girls and boys were pretty equal across the board in all age groups. A couple of the 16 year old girls were out shooting the guys in the matches we watched.
 
Thats awesome! I used to be a National 4H Instructor and loved all the time I put into it. Great Program for sure.

My son just competed in the 4H archery today in Murfreesboro, TN. He had a blast and did so well that we went afterwards and had him fitted and setup with his own bow.

He took lessons two years ago from Big J's daughter Boo,but he's always shot with one of the supplied genesis bows, never the same one twice, different weights, etc.

We had a few over 300 shooters today and about 50/50 boys to girls.

Pretty cool right there!! We just finished state yesterday, almost 800 shooters and a full day of shooting. The weather co-operated and we only got started about 35 minutes late with the seniors. My daughter shot a 429 out of 600. Respectable for her first year shooting a bow. Still pretty close to 50/50 boys and girls. Had one gal there from Worlds and all I can say is WOW, that young lady can shoot a bow! I got voluntold as a scorer for one of the other counties as well this time. I have figured out that a couple of ink pens and a calculator is a must for meets from now on. I also carry two sets of allen wrenches, super glue, tape some spare tips, inserts, and knocks for the occasional repair. My daughter carries her spare arrows. I am thinking once we get settled again after my next overseas trip I may go ahead and get certified to coach and jump in with both feet as it seems she is bitten pretty good by the bow shooting bug.
 
Alex has really gotten into it as well. I had double shoulder surgery in '04 and gave up two things for a while - compound bow and golf. Anything he gets into, if I do as well he really doubles his fun. Since he got so into golf and archery, I busted out the clubs and compound bow and if the shoulders hurt they hurt, he and I have a blast together.

He has golf on Wednesday and archery on Friday and those are our two days. I pretty much take those two days off when tax season is over and they're ours.

I let myself get talked into merging into another CPA firm in '12 after being on my own since '98 and it was miserable. Took my practice back out November '14. I work insane hours Jan-Apr 15th but my whole summer is spent with my wife and two kids. Sep and Oct get a bit hairy but I have the holidays off Nov-Dec as well.
 
Forgot to add, we got his bow dialed in after church today and he's now using a release. When his team starts back he'll shoot open from now on. He's dead on at 10, 20 & 30 so far. One thing I've noticed about him is his ability to just be perfectly still with anything and no wobble. I bought him his first rifle for his 8th bday (He'll be 13 Jun 14) and he can shoot a long gun or bow freehand as easy as I do with a rest. It's like he zones out and a statue.

Took my son and daughter, she's 5, camping tonight. He's got his bow and target. LOL. Give mamma some free to herself time. The hot dogs and roasted marsh mallows aren't mixing well.
