45-70 question...

I have an Encore barrel in 45-70 and am setting it up for hog and bear. I have looked at the ballistics and was looking for a little professional help.I am going to scope it...Does it compare with a 12ga...a muzzleloader...wondering about a bdc scope.Ammo as well?? Any thoughts????

Get some of the Hornady Leverevolution. I would go with a scope in the 1-5 range, or maybe a 2-7

I wouldnt worry with a bdc reticle for a 45-70. Go with a low powered fixed or variable if you plan to scope it. A 2.5x or 1.5-5x20 would work fine.

I have a Zeiss Conquest I'll sell you if you are interested. It's a 1.8-5.5x38. I have had it for maybe 3 months. Glass is excellent.
