444 marlin load recommendation

Brother got me a h&r 444 for christmas after checking ammo prices it looks like a rifle for reloading any recommendations for loads ,bullets, powder etc

Cast boolits and either rx7 or 4198. Beartoothbullets.com has a good selection of cast boolits.

You could also try Hornady FTX bullets, but you really don't need expansion with a .444

My fav load is the Hornady 265 flatnose over a stiff charge of H4198.

cast bullet will work great in that 444 but keep in mind you could shoot a deer facing away from you and there is a good chance that bullet will exit :mrgreen:
so you need to make sure there is nothing behind him like another deer or house or your car :lol:
i have 1 that i load up some 300 gr in it for bear and elk. there are a lot more good hunting bullets out there today for this caliber but that was not always the case. back when it came out it was loaded with 240 gr [ i think but im old and my mind in mush } pistol bullets and those really would kill but they made a mess of everything. if you hand loaded back then you could load cast but that was about all that was out there to use. now they have many good for hunting bullets
and this sure has turned this 444 into a rifle that can take anything in north america. also look at some of hornady leverevolution bullets. i found 1 of those same bullets but in 35 i use in a wildcat 35 i use for hunting
