Been watching a hobbled up deer a couple weeks. Since I've had no luck I decided to take him.

Killed a lot of deer with that bullet including my best muzzleloader buck, but never got a decent blood trail. Switched to Barnes T-EZ this year and have had great success and good blood trails.

I used to use the XTP 240 gr. I never had any problems with it. Worked good on 7 or 8 deer.

Congrats!!
I used 240gr XTP's for years and between my boy and me, we killed about 35 deer with the 240's we shoot em through the ribs behind the shoulder, they always run anywhere from 15-50yds and we always get two holes, sometimes the blood trail is lacking but most of the time very adequate, we always find em. So far the few we've killed this year with .45cal 300gr XTP's have been another story it's been paint out of a bucket for a very short distance. The 240's kill fine!!

I had the same blood trail issue this year with the same bullet. Perfect shot and deer didn't go far. Pass through and everything

good bullet shot a 6pt with one this season made a good sized hole, and had a nice blood trail. I've killed a ton of deer with those things never had any problems.

I've used that bullet for a long time, in my .44 mag lever rifles and muzzleloader. It's been a consistently good performer for me and several friends.

Congratulations on your buck.

I love the xtp's. I shoot them out of my muzzleloader and they'll flat stomp a mud hole in a deer.
