44 cal black powder revolver

I have a 4 cal black powder revolver,aquired at an estate sale, Navy Arms Co.Ridgefield N.J. Also on the butt plate next to the serial no. it says made in Italy. How can i tell if this is a replica or an older gun. On the side of the barrel it has stamped BLACK POWDER ONLY 44 CAL. Can someone give me some info on this?

No really didnt know where/how to start. may not be worth a plug nickel but it is a nice piece.

bought as a package with several other things. i think like $50. I've had it a couple of years,just never had it appraised.

Navy Arms was an importer. It's a replica. What model? Anyway you look at it though, you got a good price on it.

Cant find a model# or name,just Navy Arms Co. it makes a great conversation piece...Just not sure if i want to shoot it. Looks to me like it could crossfire between cylinders.....

Navy Arms replicas were generally of good quality. The company was started by Val Forgett way back in the 1950's. Below is a link to Val from Wikipedia. Probably did about as much as any one person in reviving the muzzle loading sport.

"Black Powder Only" should be a dead giveaway that it's a replica. Back in the days of the original, you either used black powder or black powder. :)
