Never tried a 410, not sure I could afford enough shells to get a limit 😝 , with a full choke it would shoot like a rifle out a ways, I would definitely want to shoot some cardboard before I went. got some friends that shoot skeet with them but not sure how well they do.

The last dove hunt I got to go on was was epic. Thousands of doves in Jefferson Co and the older gentleman close to me shooting a .410 limited out without problems. He had been one of our patients and a world class skeet shooter.

I limited out with a cannon ……. 12g Ruger Red Label O/U
Shooting skeet with a 410 2.5" I'm about 2 or 3 targets less than with a 12 or 20. I shoot 3/4 oz in those and the 410 has 1/2oz . These 3" 410 are 11/16 so right at 3/4oz. The dove shoots Ive been to the last 10 years I used the same 3/4oz load in the 12 so we'll see.

For the past few 20 years 28's and 410's is all I've been shooting . I told the kids that we need to do a 410 only dove hunt ,we would but the other 5 people coming to the house to hunt this year doesn't own one . My youngest son has recently started duck hunting with one of my 28's and said it's a wood duck killing machine . I passed up a deal about 20 years ago that I should have my butt kicked for not buying it . A local gun store had a Remington 1100 410 for sale for 500 but I didn't have the extra cash at the time with a new born in the house .

Killed several limits with my Franchi Aspire 410. I shoot reloaded 2-1/2" 8's. I consider myself an above average wing shooter and seldom have much variation in shooting a 12, 20 or 28 at doves, meaning I'm usually very consistent. But the 410……….some hunts I look like a rockstar and my best was 21 shots for 15 birds. Then, the next hunt, I couldn't kill 15 with 15 cases. Hahaha. Love the 410!!

Shot a 12 then 20 then a .410 three days in a row once, this was when the limit was 12 doves. Was able to get: 12 for 15, 12 for 18 and 12 for 22 with the 12/20/.410, this was picking my shots. May shoot my .410 some on Sunday and Monday. Those were the good old days when I shot a lot!

I started hunting with a single shot 410, I killed my limit a few times with less then 1 box. I moved up to a single shot 20ga when I was around 13 years old. I killed my limit with 16 shells one time and a few more limits with less then 1 box. I was normally hunting cattle ponds with a tree or 2 around. Its not hard to kill them if you pick a area that you get a lot of close or easy shots.

Man you got a good memory!

My son has taken several with his stevens 410. Mostly on the limb since it has a dot. I am looking forward to the day that he's big enough to swing that 20 ga because 410 shells are way to high and hard to find!

Since this may be the last dove opener with the way this country is going I'm taking my O/U 410. I got a case of 3"#9 real cheap years ago and this is the time to use them. Anybody got any 410 dove stories?
I love a 410. Nailed a bunch of grouse years ago when I had one. Damned shame, now 20 & 12 ga shells are way less than 410. Enjoy my friend. They are fun and dove eat very good.

Those 12 bird years were epic when I was growing up. I have been on Dove hunts many many times where you thought you were in Argentina or Mexico. Use to hunt them several times a week and wear them out. Still have a few hunts like that now but only every few years not like the old days.

My great niece has been shooting a .410 for two years at the age of 9. She is shooting a 20ga this year since I gifted her a Browning A5 20ga. lite. My nephew is excited as it is going to save him some money not buying .410 shells at $15+ a box.🙈

I like even numbers, lets move it to 20, the shell manufactures need a bump and I probably wont kill more 😝 , Funny how you forget things, wife always fusses because I forget her birthday but always remember the hunting dates , you would think after 40 years I would remember hers and my sisters as hers is the next day. lol been awhile since but been some close calls.

Oh my aching back. He has already started a thread about his 410 and dove hunting. That's all I've heard about for the past two weeks. I've never seen one person cripple themselves so much as Iglow. He always tries to reduce the odds not in his favor. I don't understand the man, but that's what makes him him.
BTW, I will be in the same field with him on opening day. I've already told him, if I hear him complain once, I will make sure that gun doesn't come back with him

Get him a slingshot and put him under a walnut tree. 😂

That's it!!! I know when I've been insulted!!! But hey , I can flutter them down cause I got you my friend and bird boy to find them!!!! Nowww…FETCH!!!

My daughter hunted with one for a few years, but her shots were off the wire or limb mostly. She did knock a few out of the sky. She has a 20 now, she said she ain't going back

With some Fiocchi 3in 11/16 #9 out of my Browning pump, they fold all the same out to 30 or so with mod choke if I do my job.
Shot several yesterday hovering over the decoys at about 10 yrds or so with the improved choke. About to start looking into making some half oz tungsten duck loads.
