I think the 40 year old Lyman scope has some issues,,I believe everything else is good to go,I have tried 5 different powders and shot 200 bullets and this is typical of any 20 shot string, they all look the same,,seems like there will be 2-3 shots out of the group for every 20 shots fired,,

Old Guy wont let me switch the scope out,he wants it left as is,so I think this is the best I can get it to do.

I wish I could do that good even when every thing is perfect. Found out my eyes an't what they were even a year ago.

Have you tried any IMR4198 or RL10X and 40 grn Bergers or Vmax's. That was what my 40X liked the best, when I had it.

I`ll agree with the old guy no issues with the scope. I would question jumping powder charges 1/2 grain in such a small case. If you are using 50 grain pills Sierra lists a max charge at 26 grains. Now that you are so close at 25.5 gr I`d back off to 25.3 and go up to 25.7 and see which way things go, better or worse. If fliers persist the seating depth needs an adjustment. Looking at the groups, if it were me I`d back the bullet off the lands an additional 1 or 2 thousands. To close causes fliers. To far and its larger with spaced shots. Don`t mess with seating till you try the powder changes, just mess with 1 thing at a time.

52 Sierra .002 in,

I will load 20 at 25.2,,,25.4,,,25.6,,,25.8,,and 26,,I think I have enough bullets to then load 20 .005,,.010 and .015 jump

somebody else told me I need magnum primers with BLC2,,anything to that??

Don`t waste barrel and components at 25.2. Load the weights I mentioned and see if which way the group responds less and tighter group or more and tighter group. The seating I suggested isn`t .005", .010" etc. either

.001" in
.000"

My 223 VSSF I seated them .000" and it shot me some great small groups, the smallest 5 @ 100 was .200"

Your close, don`t jump around so much

I use CCI450`s in all my loads (magnum) but don`t change primers yet

I wouldn`t have thought .001 would have been enough to tell any difference,,but I will go on your advice, this is the first rifle of this type I have fooled with,,

I am gonna weight sort the brass and try and get 20 cases the same and load 20 at 25.3 with the same OAL,after I shoot those I will load the same 20 cases with 25.5 and after I soot those I will load the same cases again with 25.7

I will report back after those 60 shots and will load the best charge weight .001 in and then at .000 and .001 out,
