Before anyone starts the food plot vs baiting debate, I don't think most food plots can compare to a bait pile. However, the small size of this setup is probably the closest thing to it, except it's legal and probably better nutrition as well.

Last month I took advantage of the rain and carried 50 pounds of wheat up to this tiny clearing I made on a saddle in the cedar thicket at the back of the farm. I threw it out by hand, sowed it thick as if I were seeding fescue on a lawn. I let it go for a few weeks, and checked back the other day to see it was coming up nicely and the deer were already eating it.

The ladder stand has been there over a year, notice the color, it was dark gray when I first bought it. Chalky piece of junk

I thought I'd get picked off in that stand, but the deer didn't have a clue. Saw 2 does, 3 fawns and a young buck before climbing down. Only one doe and fawn actually stepped into the plot, I took her with a heart shot and then waited for a buck...

This is the third deer with the same Swhacker broadhead, no sharpening, and it's ready for the next one. Passed through the offside leg.

Congrats again catman. I have a wheat plot that the deer are hitting pretty hard right now also. Haven't ever sat on it for some reason

I don't hunt my treestands very often at all. But I decided I wanted some green in that maze of cedar trees for a good rut hunting spot. It's covered up in does, so I'll be back soon looking for an old hoss Mack daddy mossy horns.

feed wheat is good as well. I use the VNS wheat because it has the weed seeds removed. If the feed wheat is $10/bag then maybe the VNS is a little higher, i can't remember what I paid for it.

No way I'd shoot multiple deer with the same broadhead without re-sharpening the blades. I've shot a pile of broadheads over the years and never once found one where the blades couldn't use some touching up after a shot.

swhackers open up inside the deer so they don't have to cut hair, hide and meat on the way in. Makes them stay sharp a lot longer. With that said, I've shot deer with Thunderheads that were still sharp after going through a deer or two.
