35 whelen optional loads

I've got a H&R handi rifle in 35 whelen cal.
My question is can I shoot pistol rounds such as 357 or 38 cal w/out doing any damage to the gun?

You can use pistol bullets loaded into a 35 whelen case but you can't shoot a 357 round from your gun. The 357 round wouldn't be big enough to fill the chamber. It would probly just fall off in the chamber.

Just like rubberduck posted , the pistol bullets will work fine loaded in the whelen case for target practice . However , I wouldn't try to use the load to hunt with . Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe the pistol bullet would hold up very well due to the higher velocity produced by the whelen load .
