I have an old 336 Marlin in 35 Rem. I used the new flex tip Hornady's last year and took a nice 8 and 9 point.
 
I got one of the 760s in .35 also. It is a great old rifle; mine is a 1952 model. I have killed several deer with mine-yeah it rattles some but never lost anything as a result as far as I know. I think you would be better served shooting the 200g bullets in it. Plateau Hunter
 
im thinking the 200g is the lightest rem corelock i have seen on a shelf,a 220 also,i do know the 200g puts a smacking on a deer,mike243
 
The 200g and the 35 Rem sort of go hand in hand like the 130/270, 140/7mm, 150/308 etc. It has more sectional density and thus penetration than does the 150. I don't think the 35 is so much about speed as it is about smackdown whump. I always use the standard old roundnose bullets in my 760 but you could use the spire points of course in that rifle. I have killed several with a Marlin 35 too. At a 100yds or inside it leaves nothing wanting. Plateau Hunter
 
I bought a 35 Rem 336 Marlin in 1970 and started reloading for it
the same year.

I generally used it when walking for hogs and deer. I was just trying to remember the deer and hogs I have dispatched with it.

I can remember taking 8 hogs one up to almost three hundred lbs.
That hog had been the only animal I have had to shoot twice. I

I can remember taking 4 deer with it.

I still have the gun and it is still in great shape. I put a scope on it and also extended the stack with a recoil pad. I
have always used 200 grn heads in it.

I have a 35 barrel for my contender that I have shot 150 grn in
but never shot a animal with it.

Great round and does put them down fast. Enjoy yours, I have mine for almast 40 years. I agree with Plateau hunter.
 
I also have the 35 for my TC Contender but have not shot anything animals wiht it. It definitely is a CANNON. I love shooting my 10" 223 also, shoots a 12" flame out of it in the daytime!
 
I had a 1953 760 in 35 was a great gun but traded it like a big dummy! Recently bought an older Marlin 336 in 35 rem that shoots like a dream with the Hornady LE's.
 
Mine is a 1953. Plan to sight it in this weekend. I'm going to compare the consistency of the 150g and 200g. Based on the comments the 200g is the why to go. Thanks to everyone that commented your input is always appreciated.
 
MArlin 336C, shooting the Lever Revolutions from Hornady. Great load for the Marlin. I have stacked up more hogs and deer with this Marlin in the past 25 years I can't count them. My go to rifle.
 
My first deer rifle and first kill was with a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem. I still have a 35 pistol barrel for my Contender, but swapped over to a 7-30 Waters carbine barrel. Just bought a 1947 Remington model 81 a couple of months ago to satisfy a "dream rifle" urge. Guess what caliber? You got it, 35 Remington. For some reason I just love this caliber. Nothing fancy, just kills deer. Shot 200gr Remington corelokts in the Marlin, 150gr corelokts in the Contender and 200gr corelokts in the Rem.

When I started back into hunting, that was the caliber I went with for a while. I don't remember exactly but I would have sworn I had 200s in it after a disappointing experience with something lighter. Small, light, easily carried...
