338 RCM or 325 WSM

Would kind of like to have either one of these but not sure which. Don't need either just kind of one of those want to things we get as gun geeks. Which would you pick between these two and why?

Assuming you not carrying this caliber in Africa.... the 325 WSM ought to do the job (and there goes my anti-Ruger thing again). Its really a 338 mag shortened up and no belt. Ammo is readily available???

Neither will be the easiest to find ammo or components for but the 325 should be a little easier

I have a custom 325 I bought for my first elk hunt. Bullet choice was easy for me for that as I went with a 200gr accubond. It drive through nearly 3ft of elk, including shoulder bone and kept going at 350 yards. I love the gun and would have no problem buying another. I have no experience with the rcm but I am partial to the wan.

My vote is for 338 RCM. I own a Left hand Hawkeye in this caliber and it's a very accurate combination. Powder Valley has a good supply of ammo in stock. Hornady has continued to make production runs now and then. But if you buy the rifle lay in a decent ammo of ammo or brass just in case. CDNN is selling the left handed Hawkeyes for $499. Super nice rifle, 20
inch barrel, and factory iron sights as well as free scope rings. 338 bullets can be found everywhere.

Leaning towards the 338 RCM as I like the Ruger Hawkeyes but need a right handed one. Also I reload all my stuff and see that brass and dies are readily available for both.

the BC and SD numbers of the 338 bullets are just better than the 8mm,,then if you decide you want to shoot out longer there are the 250 and 300 gr Bergers,,and for game larger than elk you may run into on the Black Continent there is the 300 Noslers that give it the power of the 375 class rifles,,
