Anyone in here have one? I just bought the Savage 11/111 LRH and put a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 on it. Planning on sending a few bullets down range tomorrow.

I have a 110 FCPHS with 4.5-14 LR/M1,,I shot 5 rounds today at 1075 on a steel gong and the 300 Bergers knock the fool out of it even that far,,
get some good hearing protection and dont waste your money on any off brand brass,,

rifle,with the 4.5-14 LR and M1 knobs and a 20 taper base with a 100 yard zero I have 100 MOA of elevation on the knobs,,takes 10 to make 500,32 to reach 1075 and 69.5 to make 1525 at Rockcastle in Ky,,I would really love to find a place to shoot a mile,
I do load work up tests at 300 yards and from there out I dont shoot groups or off a rest,,I flop it out on the ground and shoot prone at long range,,
here is 300 yard target with 300 Bergers and H1000 and 215 primers,

Just wondering if anyone with a 338 has tried the new RL33, supposedly created just for the 338 Lapua Magnum.

Would you suggest reloading for best accuracy? Right know I only have 40 rounds of hornady bthp match ammo.

I would think the cost of 338 Lapua ammo will make you want to reload real bad pretty fast. 
Anytime you are looking for best accuracy, reloading is the way to go. Not that factory ammo is of poor quality but with reloading you can tailor to your specific rifle. Also you can buy components in large quantities so that when you do find an accurate load you don't run out of it for a while. When you are shooting at these type ranges you'll want to take reloading a step further than normal too with turning case necks and primer pockets, deburring flash holes, etc.

Retumbo is THE powder for the .338 Lapua.

Retumbo is a very good 338 300 gr powder,,it shoots really well in Daddys TRG42 but I have seen a couple rifles that liked H1000 better..seems in the Sako you have to load at or over max for best accuracy,,I would rather have good accurate loads a couple grs under max that will shoot tighter groups and brass last longer and is much easier to soot
