starting to settle down

at 300yards Ronnie shot 5 shots in .441 last Sunday with the 300 gr Lapua bullet and a bunch of Retumbo,,clocked 2910 fps with and ES of 15 fps,

we are workin out to 500 this Sunday,,if accuracy holds we will hit 750 next Sunday,,goal is to mark the turrets on the 5.5-22 Nightforce to a cool mile

the Lapua bullet has a BC of .880 at 2900 fps,,can you say bad ass

 I was wondering if there was a public range with that kind of distance. I think Oak Ridge goes to 1000 yards but I havent heard of any that will go a mile.

we can get 12-1400 yards on the farm,,a friend of the family owns 4-500 acres on the Cumberland river in corn,,when he picks it I am sure we can get a mile or more there.

Gotta at least try the 300gr Bergers.... the BC is even better than the SMK's!!!

he has some of about all them 338 bullets,,I read somewhere that the Berger would start to go haywire above 2800,,we will try and see what happens though,,

nah, they SHOOT great above 2800 fps if you've got the twist to handle them... the problem is they expand unpredictably on deer at those velocities. But that's the biggest problem (unpredictable terminal performance) with the SMK's as well. If you're just punching paper, go with the bullet with the BC in the .9's!!!!

he has the
250 Accubond
250 SMK
300 SMK
300 Berger
300 Lapua

I cant believe either of those would not kill anything that we would want dead,,what it looked like after that is not a concern

more than likely whichever shoots best at 1000 will be the bullet.

gonna try the Berger and Lapua and H1000 at 500 next.
