Ronnie had some gallon milk jugs and 1/2 gallon orange juice jugs and one 1000 yard Benchrest target set up at 1000 yards,,
he was working from a 600 yard zero,,dialed in what his charts called for to get a 1000 zero and fired 3 shots at the target,,the 300 gr bullets at 2910 fps were dead on up and down but were about 10 inches to the right in a dead calm wind with just about no mirage,,
he wrote it off as spin drift,and adjusted one MOA and Daddy took over the rig,,I was not there but he said misses at 1000 yards on gallon milk jugs were few and far between,,and Ronnie said he busted the 1/2 gallon juice jug on the 2nd shot,,
he said they shot 40 rounds at 1000 just messing around and did not shoot a group,,as this was the rigs first 1000 yard outing and just trying to get a feel for it and see how close the charts work out and if the Nightforce is going to track right,
so far so good,,
he said he still had over a full revolution of elevation left in the scope zeroed at 1000 yards..
I will say I saw him shoot a 2 inch group at 600 with it and it seems to me the farther you get the better it shoots,,I guess it takes a while for the big 300 gr bullets to straighten ou and start flying right..
I hope to get a turn this w/e,,they called and invited me for this shoot but I was out of town,,
oh,,BTW,,the rig is a Sako TRG 42 338 lapua with 5.5-22 NF scope,300gr lapua bullets,lapua brass and near 100 grs of powder for 2910 fps and a .919 BC..
